As another
season begins we are all looking forward to some positive results......
Firstly I would like to acknowledge and thank all committee officers, players, members, coaches, volunteers, Clubhouse staff and anyone else involved with the club for your ongoing support in making Shannon RFC what it is. I know that everyone will join me in giving a special thanks to Andrew McNamara who after 10 years of dedication, (I say this with the fullest meaning of the word) ,has decided to step down as PRO of the club. He has been a huge part of the Clubs promotion and I hope as the new PRO to keep this high standard going.
On Club Matters...
Membership for the 2012/2013 season is available online in the club section or contact any club officer member. Details for the Club officers are in the Contact section on the website. We have some great incentives for early payment of membership. Free IRFU draw tickets. Two draw tickets per one Adult membership and Four draw tickets per one family membership paid by October 14th by standing order or otherwise. These tickets are usually €10 each. The tickets will guarantee entry to the IRFU grand draw which has some amazing prizes from vouchers for sportswear, international hospitality packages with tickets and fully paid international rugby trips away for the winners.
Our first game of the season kicks off with the start of the Charity Cup on Saturday 25 August at 2.30pm in Coonagh against Thomond. Here’s to writing victory a note for next week.
New President Vinny Ryan and the committee would urge all members and supporters, old and young, to come out and support our teams at all grades and if possible make an effort to pay your subscription as soon as possible, as these funds are needed to maintain the highest standards for all those who wear the Shannon jersey.
We all have great pride in our club and hope that this will be shown throughout the 2012/13 season by support from you for our upcoming matches and events. Shannon has a long and successful history in rugby both locally and internationally long may it continue for many years to come.
