STAGE 2


At this stage basic back play from the three man scrum, and the team principles of obtaining and keeping possession, going forward and support are introduced.

The Game

1.
Pitch size (see diagram).
2.
All starts and restarts are by a pass-off and must be on the whistle. THE OPPOSITION MUST RETIRE 10 METRES FROM THE SCRUM HALF/PASSER and can only move once the scrum half/passer places their hands on the ball. The first receiver must start NO MORE THAN 2 METRES BACK from the scrum half! passer. Following a try and at the start of the second half, the pass-off will be from the centre of the pitch.

Line-outs 2-man only non contest, over when scrum half passed the ball. Both hookers must be at the front of the line out and both scrum halves behind their forwards. Back lines must be 5m back and hookers must throw to players in the line out, no over throw allowed
4.
If a ball is knocked on or a forward pass is made the non-offending team is awarded a scrum. 3 man scrum no push allowed and no contest, opposing scrum half must be behind his forwards, scrum is over when ball is in hands of scrum half.
5.
Penalties must be taken through the mark designated by the referee and if not through the mark a scrum should be awarded.
6.
Rucks and mauls 5-sec.use it or lose it.
