2014-15 proved to be a fantastic year for our Senior 2nds (Junior side) and the feeling generated in the club by the success of the side cannot be under estimated. The display and character shown in the replayed final in Cork against a strong Clonmel side belied the tender years of a young inexperienced Shannon squad albeit guided on the field by the evergreen David Quinlan.
This memorable day was added to a few weeks later when the same squad took the Munster Seconds League with another magnificent display against a game Young Munster side.
Well done to Pat, Marcus and Percy for a great year.
This year Declan O’Connor has taken the reins and we welcome him back into the fold and wish him the best of luck in the year to come.
This Seconds are very much part of the Senior structure of our club and provide an opportunity for those wishing to break into the Senior team to showcase their talents and gain the experience and physicality that Junior rugby brings.
Indeed it has been said by those who know these things that a strong Seconds team makes a strong club.
I would urge all members to get behind the lads- nothing like a Sunday afternoon supporting the seconds- and cheer on the next batch of Senior players for this great club.
