Congratulations to our Shannon/St. Mary's u18s who won the North Munster Closed Cup against Young Munster last Monday night in a great match on the Canal Bank. The lads took the lead early and dominated the first half racking up 22 points to nil. The second half told a different story however, and Young Munster came out with all guns blazing. They threw the kitchen sink at Shannon but the lads dug deep and after conceding 21 points they turned things around. In a fantastic team performance, the U18s scored an extra 15 points as well as putting in a great defensive display. After an exhausting 40 minutes, we emerged victorious with the final score reading 37-21. It was a fantastic result and most well deserved for a hard-working bunch of lads - well done to the coaches too! It was fantastic to hear both “St Mary’s Are We” and “There Is an Isle” being sung after the match.
This Sunday (7th May) we will be holding the Shannon RFC Medals Day at 11:00am in Thomond Park (Back Pitch). There will be training for all teams from U6 to U12s with a party afterwards. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
