It was another weekend of solid rugby from our thirds to our underage. We had a win on the road from our u15s girls team who travelled to Killaloe/Ballina. It was a tough match but the girls held their own and got some fantastic scores emerging victorious for a finish! Both our U15s and U18s girls are in Cup finals in Munchins on Saturday at 1pm and all support is welcome!

Our U14s got their league campaign off to a good start with a win over UL Bohs/St. Marys in Coonagh on Sunday. They managed to cross the line 6 times for well-organized tries in a great team performance!

Unfortunately for our Shannon/St. Marys U18s it wasn’t to be and they were beaten by Middleton in the Pan Munster on Saturday. It was a really tough match but the U18s dug deep and gave everything and were unfortunate in the end.

The result of the weekend however, must go to our fantastic Thirds who beat Old Crescent by 20-8 in the Gleeson League on Saturday. This result puts the thirds on the top of the league in joint place with Garryowen. It also marks 7 wins from 8 games, they will be lining out against Young Munster this weekend in a match that’s sure to be a tough encounter!

Our u13s are looking great in their new jersey’s kindly sponsored by the Oakwood Arms Hotel in Shannon!! (photo included!)

As the Senior and Junior Cups all kick off for another year, we would like to wish the very best of luck to all of our Shannon RFC players and coaches involved with all squads!

As you all know, we are back in league action on the 28th of January welcoming Galwiegans to Thomond Park. The second half of the league is massively important and we hope to see you all out on the sidelines. We are hosting a pre-match function on the 28th where only €20 includes, match entry and a three-course meal. Please come along and lend your support, it's fantastic value and a good chance to catchup with everyone after the break!! Contact Kevin to book your place on +353 (87) 418 7385 or contact me and I will book you in.

Aldi are currently holding a completion open to any budding rugby pundit aged between 7-11 and looks like a bit of craic, follow the link here for more information!

We are nearly ready to launch our Champ or Chimp competition this year!! The forms will start making the rounds next week so make sure to get yours; remember, if you’re not in you can’t win! There are some really exciting changes made to the competition this year and we can’t wait to get into the usual discussions and buzz surrounding those all-important decisions – so make sure you get your form next week!!

The lotto for the last week showed no winners.

For the 12th of January, the numbers drawn were; 03, 09, 26, 28 and consolation prizes of €50 went to:

Deirdre Organ c/o Joe Cleary
Jamie Tyler c/o O’Shea’s, Clonlara
Mona c/o Joe Cleary

Next week’s draw is for €5, 200 and will be held in The Cauldron on the 19th January.

Don't forget to drop in to our marquee this Saturday after the Munster v Racing Metro match. We have the usual craic, great food and music from the Tiny Giants after the match.
