Champ or Chimp 2017

4 months ago By Katie McCloskey

So you think you know sports?

Today we are pleased to announce the launch of the 2017 Champ or Chimp Sports Prediction Competition.

We hope that you enjoyed the competition last year and that you will continue with your support for the coming year.

Please take a minute or two to read this e-mail before downloading the Entry Form here

Last years event was a great success but particularly pleasing to us was the very positive feedback we received from our overseas entrants (former players and friends who are now working abroad) who felt it strengthened their connections to home. So if you have any family members or friends who will be abroad for the coming year you may consider forwarding this email to them, and if they win who knows we may even fly them home for the prize giving ceremony.

We are delighted that both CJ Stander and Donnacha Ryan (our current senior internationals) have decided to get involved with the competition this year.

We have made some changes to this year's competition with a view to making it more interesting, and to hopefully keep more people engaged right up to the final event. The changes are set out hereunder.

1. Double Points: You nominate one event from each of the three sections and any points you receive for that event will be be doubled.

2. Golf : Rather than selecting 1 golfer for each of the 3 golfing events, you now nominate 3 golfers who will represent you in each of the 3 competitions. For each competition your selection will be deemed to be the golfer who finishes highest of the 3

3. Events : We have changed some of the events this year. With Limerick FC back in the top flight of the Airtricity League we have included the Airtricity Premier League. As the English Premiership seems to be a one horse race we have substituted it with the World Snooker Championship, and with the Ladies Rugby World Cup being held in Ireland this August, we have included it at the expense of the Senior Camogie.

4. Scoring :The points awarded for each competition has been changed in an attempt to keep more people involved right up to the last event. The new scoring system is set out in the table below

It should be noted, that as the forms were printed before the last weekend of the European Champions Cup Pool Stages the entry form shows all teams who could still have qualified for the knock out stages. However after the last pool games at the weekend, the format of the quarter finals is now known. The following lists the clubs who have qualified for the Quarter Finals and you should make your selection from these 8 teams only.

Entry Forms are available here or from any member of the Shannon RFC Committee.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to run a mini competition amongst their work colleagues or school mates. We can provide individualised leader boards for any group of 10 or more. For details please contact 086 699-2629 or 086 254-3369

Finally I would like to wish you the best of luck with your entry.

Yours Sincerly,

Tim O'Donoghue
Chairman Champ or Chimp Committee.
