Our seconds had a successful outing in the Seconds League this weekend, welcoming Bruff to Coonagh. In miserable conditions the lads put on a great display and came away winners with a score line of 36-19. It was a tough competitive match so well done to the lads for pitching in and coming out with the result. Photos here from Dermot Lynch!
It was different fortunes for out u20s who were unfortunate to go down to UCC 20-15. The lads were doing well and were leading for portions of the match but it was UCC who came out on top for a finish. Onwards for the lads this weekend as they travel out to the 4G pitch in UL.
Andrew McNamara has provided us with a report from this weekends u13s League match v UL Bohs. The lads won 15-7 in a great match!
Ul/Bohs proved a valiant opposition, but when the going got tough, really tough, they were no match for the outstanding commitment of Shannon. After their early try our boys dug deep and fought their way back onto contention with Charlie Dedigan bursting through and galloping 80 metres. From that point our boys controlled the game with some outstanding defence and attack. David Varela scored next with a powerful surge that included a sweep past several defenders to give us a 10- 7 half time lead. Perhaps our most satisfying try , from a coaches perspective was our third try which involved swift and skilful movement of the ball that allowed Wayne Kearns dash to the corner for his first ever try for Shannon (the first of many we hope). We always ask the boys to give it their all, fight for each other, and never give up and again, today they didn't fail on any count. All the boys deserve great praise, especially the lads that saw no game time the encouragement they displayed for their team mates and their joy in sharing the victory was extremely admiral despite not getting to play.
Well done to all of our underage who put in a serious level of commitment in braving the elements last Sunday!! Numbers were great despite the frost on the ground!
