Before we launch into our final notes of 2016, I’d like to take a minute on behalf of myself and the Committee to wish everyone in the club a very Happy Christmas and Best Wishes for the New Year! So far, the season has been packed full of fantastic displays of rugby across the whole club, some results haven’t gone our way while others have given us great days out! From minis to seniors and coaching staff, across the whole club we have conducted ourselves with integrity and pride in each match we have played and long may it last. Thanks too, to our members, supporters and volunteers for everything so far this season, we have had some fantastic days!! One thing is for sure, we are really looking forward to seeing what 2017 holds for us all - but for now it’s a well-deserved break for a bit!

Last weekend produced some fantastic results for the club.

Our u20s secured a great bonus point win over Bruff with a final score of 27-22. Conor Fitzgerald, Darren Gavin, Luke Barrett and Nathan Randles all crossed over the line with Conor Fitzgerald landing two conversions and a penalty to seal the deal. This is a great and well deserved result for our 20s who have a fantastic side this season and are working really well as a unit on the pitch.

Our thirds kept up their incredible form with a 30-7 victory over Ennis/St. Senans. There is a wealth of experience on this team this season and it really is great to see some of our past players back in action. To see the amount of experience on offer working with young lads just up from underage is fantastic and it really encompasses what thirds rugby is about. If you get a chance to go out and support the lads in the New Year please take it, you won’t be disappointed!!

Our u18s who are amalgamated with St. Marys, took on Old Crescent in a friendly in Coonagh. It was a competitive fixture with the lads emerging victorious after some well worked tries and organised play. The final score read 31-10. Well done lads!

Our u13s travelled to Kilrush in their final league fixture this side of Christmas. Unfortunately for the lads, the score didn’t go their way but they played some good solid rugby and were full of their usual support for each other, battling on until the final whistle. The result didn’t hinder the lad’s spirits however, and they went onto have some craic with bowling and Supermacs afterwards!

The lotto for the last week showed no winners.

For the 15th of December, the numbers drawn were; 12, 18, 25, 28 and consolation prizes of €50 went to:

Jamie c/o Mikey Tobin
Sadie Doyle c/o Joe Cleary
Sean Healy c/o Club

Next week’s draw is for €4, 900 and will be held in Woodfield House on the 22nd December.

Winners of €25 Food Vouchers
Tom Ward c/o O’Driscoll’s
Aaron Carmody c/o Tadhg Crowe

Once again, we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
