Niall Ronan’s links to Shannon began when he moved from Leinster to Munster in 2007. A native of Co. Meath, the oval ball game shared his talents with Gaelic football and this talented sportsman was part of the Meath Minor team for a period. A commitment to rugby was rewarded with Youth international cups and then a place with Leinster. It was however with Munster that his senior international career began. His first two caps came on the 2009 tour to Canada and USA, and the following summer was against capped when Ireland travelled to New Zealand and Australia. . As part of the extended WRC squad of 2011 he played against Scotland in August in the opening world cup warm up, but unfortunately did not make the travelling party.
